In 1984, some major doctrinal issues concerning the belief in the inerrancy and infallibility of the Scriptures, caused eleven people to meet and consider the formation of a new Lutheran congregation in the Canal Winchester area that believed the Bible in its entirety, is the word of God.

| The first worship service of Peace Lutheran Church was held on January 6, 1985 at the Bloom Elementary School , Lithopolis , Ohio . Seventy-six people were in attendance on that first Sunday with Pastor Francis Smith leading the service. |
| The congregation was formed in March 1985. In April of that year, Pastor Frederick Klopfer was extended a call as the first pastor. He served until 1992 |

The present church building served the congregation of David Lutheran Church until 1975 when it was purchased by a Baptist congregation.
They, in turn, out grew the facility and sold it to the members of Peace Lutheran Church in 1985.
The building, erected in 1881, is listed on the National Historic Register.

| Kurt Luebkeman was installed as pastor of the congregation on July 5, 1992. He served until 2000. |
| David Barnhart accepted the call as the third pastor of Peace Lutheran Church. He was installed on April 14, 2002. |
| In May of 2004, Peace congregation voted to affiliate with the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations. (AFLC), a Biblical and Christ-centered organization. |
| Rev. Curtis D. Emerson was installed as Senior Pastor of the congregation on September 25, 2005. Pastor Barnhart remains to serve as Associate Pastor as he expands his work as Director of Abiding Word Ministries. |
